qual parts Producer, Engineer and Musician, Joshua “Cartier” Cutsinger began his professional career at Gravity Studios in Chicago, working with clients such as: Johnny Reznick (Goo Goo Dolls), Tub Ring, and Nash Kato (Urge Overkill).  His freelance clients in Chicago included: Rachael Yamagata, Mavis Staples, Absentstar, Daniel’s Window, James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and Mary Timony (Helium) and a long standing series of critically-aclaimed and Grammy-nominated children's records by Ralph’s World for Disney Records.  Not only did Cartier serve as engineer, recording a wide variety of instruments from Tuba, Dobro and Vibraphones to Musical Saw and Bazuki, but he went on to Produce and become an additional Musician himself.

  ince making the inevitable trek to Los Angeles in early 2007, Cartier has seen his career soar to the new heights, working with artists of the highest calibre including: Bob Dylan, Sting, K.D. Lang, P!nk, Rivers Cuomo??, Ry Cooder and Van Dyke Parks.  In addition to these artist, Cartier has also honed his engineering & producing skills working with several in-demand Producers and Engineers including??: Bob Clearmountain, John Hanlon, Tony Berg, Robin Danar.....

  ayloft Studios has been a natural outgrown of Cartier’s professional Producing and Engineering work.   Realizing over a decade ago that many clients could not afford to go into a large studio and that much of the tedious “middle part” of a record (the overdubbing phases) didn’t require the inordinate amount of gear contained in a world-class, “thousand dollar a day studio”, Cartier began designing and developing Hayloft Studios.  Years later, Hayloft Studios has grown into a top-notch? Recording environment with a wide tonal palate of vintage and modern microphone, outboard gear and instruments.  With such a collection, the right color for a given song is always at arms reach.


  ecently, Cartier has even taken the time to lend a hand to the next generation of Engineers and Producers, teaching a course in Audio Electronics at the Art Institute of California, Los Angeles.
